On Wednesday, September 20, 2017 Hurricane Maria, an extremely powerful Category 4 hurricane with 150+ mph winds, made direct landfall on Puerto Rico, leaving the entire island in disaster. What has happened since has been truly catastrophic for the island. Puerto Rico has not only been devastated by the aftermath of Hurricane Maria but also by the swarm of earthquakes since December 28, 2019, including six that were of magnitude 5 or higher. The largest and most damaging occurred on January 7th 2020 with a magnitude of 6.4.

This year in 2022, on September 18th, Hurricane Fiona made landfall in Puerto Rico causing even more destruction throughout the island, thus, our island and people are in a state of immediate need. In response, Arte Al Rescate is bringing together global fine artists in efforts to raise funds in the benefit of the relief for hurricane and earthquake victims in Puerto Rico.
